I work at a mental health crisis management temp home in Barrie. We often get trans youth and members from LGBTQ2 come stay here for a day or two. Just wondering if you have links to all LGBTQ2 friendly shelters? Could you please send me all resourses you have. Thanks

I am a resident on Pembroke St. and have lived in the area for 6 years. The drug problem in the area is literally spiraling out of control! Crackheads lighting up right out front where the new shelter will be built. The drug problem in the area has gotten far worse in the last few years. I don’t understand for the life of me how a shleter for at risk teens would be built middle of crack central! If the neighborhood was improving it would make sense but it’s literally a cease pool of drugs and prostitution. The city does absolutely nothing about it, nor do the cops. You will be subjecting at risk youth to crack and drugs that are highly accessible. Don’t believe me, take a walk along Dundas at any time of the day.

I have contacts within the Canadian quilt community that would be interested in donating quilts to be used in the Centre – its common rooms and bedrooms. Would something like
be of interest?
Please feel free to contact me if you would like to explore this further.

Hi there. I have a lot of books, kid’s books, and graphic novels. Would that be of benefit to you? Have a great night.

I am running a charity project with my school’s Gender Sexuality Alliance (
) to knit hats, mitts and a few pairs of socks for the shelter. It’s become more widespread than I’d thought when I first shared the idea. I know even with funding shelters can struggle with money, and warm clothing is very important in Canada. Hopefully, these hats will help, as LGBTQ+ youth need to feel wanted, protected and warm just like everyone else. I’m luckily able to live as I am, and I wish to use my privilege to help others in our community. If my crew can do anything else to help, please contact me

My name is Vanneth Kong, and I love and respect what the Eagle centre has been doing for the lgbtq+ community. Also, I’m looking forward to seeing the new upcoming centre, and its great services. I am a
/Founder of a startup called 2Any1 and our mission is to help people simplify the process to healthy eating and donating to great causes effortlessly at the same time. How it works under our project called “1-to-1” is that every meal plan purchased will be matched with a donation of a meal plan to feed a homeless youth living in a shelter. I thought I would love to get in contact to see if you would be interested in a collaboration/partnership with our “1-to-1” project.
If you have any further questions or want to arrange a meeting, please feel free to contact me.

My name is Sinead and I live on Pembroke Street. I’ve been following the progress on the new Egale Centre and I look forward to seeing such a great new resource and hub continue to come to life. I’m also part of a start up called Woodsy. Our mission is to make use of the city trees that come down and currently go to landfill by connecting woodworkers with this beautiful hardwood, and also connecting local people and projects to local makers. From there, we’re going to contribute back to the green efforts in Toronto, creating a better cyclical model for our local trees!
I thought I would touch base to see if you might be interested in incorporating some local wood into the Egale Centre project. Whether it’s a feature wall, a boardroom table, a sculpture, or any other wood item you may be imagining in your plans, we’d love to collaborate.
Feel free to be in touch if you’d like to get together and chat more.
